wheat + laughter

inspiration 'wednesday'.
{wheat + laughter}

this week's inspiration came from being in the new 6.25 paper studio shop that just opened on monroe center.

the environment.
the products.
the layout.

it just looks great.

and I absolutely LOVE to laugh out loud in card shops, and equally love it when others do to. put yourself there: it's quiet. people are slowly meandering though the isles, picking up cards here and there. and then the stillness is broken by unexpected laughter. it's like small pops of color that splash on the white. and it's seriously contagious.
I tell you this because I had this experience this week in the new shop. there are plenty of cards in 6.25 that will do this to you. I bought two of them. now in efforts to keep this blog clean and kid friendly, I will leave it to you to go to the shop and check out the cards. :) but here is one (friendly) example from Syd Design.

michigan + littles

liefday monday.
{michigan + littles}

love michigan? me too. that's why I decided to do some michigan themed stationery. because michigan just is that great. but we are not other state haters -- if you've got some local state (or city) lovin', let me know and I can craft up some stationery just for your liking.

also completed the wall hanger for the sweet boy born on June 8.

cheers! emilie

new cards + somedays

liefday monday.
{new cards + somedays}

sent off the new baby cards last week. just love the little elephants tightroping upside-down.

from there I created a new thank you card. simple + textured. sounds just about right.

I started a someday list. anyone else have one of these? a dream list essentially. it makes me smile every time I look at it because it reminds me of things that fill me with joy. like glass jars of jasmine tea. large white sinks, wooden bookshelves and aloe plants. and drawing illustrations with them makes the list ten times more fun. what would be on your someday list? someday I will have/do/experience....

home. sweet. home.

happy monday!

artPrize and pick-me-up pies

artprize is making Grand Rapids feel alive.
it's stimulating watching the artists set up their pieces. on my run yesterday I saw so many different people working hard to put the last touches on their pieces...looking forward to checking them all out!

here are some fun projects I have been working on as of late...

{pick-me-up pies business cards}

this image is of some business cards that I made for a really cool company called Pick-Me-Up Pies. Ruth Lingbeek has recently started a pie company and I was delighted to help her out! If you ever need some delicious pies made, she is definitely the one to go to -- her pies are incredible!!

sliced radishes

it's time to start a blog.

my hope behind this blog is to inspire.
I want to post ideas and images that I stumble upon that have made me stop, or at least slow down, and recognize the deeply beautiful. A visual journal of sorts.

so to start...sliced radishes.

I went to the market on Friday and somehow came home with radishes. I do love the spice that they bring, but aside from putting them in my salad I was a bit stumped with what to do with this lovely vegetable. so, when in doubt, bake! although they didn't turn out quite as I had hoped, I loved the way they decorated my parchment paper. I'm amazed by the vibrant colors that we can find naturally around us.
